With excitement in the air and an early start behind them, the Bradford Hindu Council team set off across the Pennines to Manchester’s iconic Old Trafford ground, ready to take on the challenge of the Diwali Cup!

There was a fantastic atmosphere with twenty two teams entering, a warm welcome and a great line-up of teams, all united by a love of sport and the ambition to lift the coveted Diwali Cup.

Our Bradford team faced some tough competition, losing three games before finishing on a high with a well-deserved victory in the final match. Considering the team was put together at the last minute, with a mixture of parents and children, everyone gave a tremendous effort. Most importantly, they can all be proud knowing they gave it their very best.

Throughout the day, the team demonstrated fantastic sportsmanship, enthusiasm and a positive attitude. Everyone who came into contact with us seemed to leave with a smile, which says a great deal about the spirit of our team. A big thank you to all our players and supporters for their commitment and encouragement.
A special moment was the presenting of the Bradford Hindu Council Diwali Award to the Kapoor brothers, alongside Jen Bardan from the Lancashire Foundation, who was also involved in presenting the cricket awards on the day.

Finally, a huge thank you to GIEO GITA UK, Lancashire Cricket Foundation and all the coaches, umpires, organisers and volunteers who worked so hard to make this such an enjoyable and memorable day.

A fantastic day of sport, friendship and over Four Hundred people attending showing community spirit. Well done, All concerned!
