Nominations are now open for the Bradford Hindu Council’s 2025 Diwali Awards, a highly anticipated event celebrating the dedication and contributions of individuals and organisations within the Bradford Hindu community. The awards ceremony will take place on Friday, October 10, 2025, honouring those who have worked tirelessly to make a significant impact.
The awards aim to recognise and celebrate the unsung heroes and community champions who have enriched the lives of others through their selfless efforts. The Bradford Hindu Council is proud to spotlight those who have contributed to the community in various fields, from sports and education to charity and cultural preservation.
A spokesperson for the Bradford Hindu Council said: “We are thrilled to launch the 2025 Diwali Awards. This is our opportunity to honour the remarkable individuals and organizations that embody the spirit of our community. We look forward to receiving nominations that highlight the incredible work being done to uplift and empower our community.”
Nominees must be based in or have a strong connection to the Bradford Hindu community and should not have received a salary for the work for which they are being nominated. All nominations must include supporting evidence, such as testimonials or examples of the nominee’s work.
This year’s awards feature an expanded list of categories, each designed to highlight a different facet of community contribution:
• Empowering Children through Sports:
The Bradford’s Young Sport’s Empowerment Award is for those who promote sports among young children, such as by organizing teams, coaching, or supporting tournament participation.
• Diversity in Inclusive Women’s Sports Promotion:
The Women’s Sports Leadership Excellence Award recognizes efforts to increase participation and leadership opportunities for women in sports within the community.
• Community Unity through Charity:
The Bradford’s Hope and Healing Champions Award honours contributions to charitable initiatives, such as fundraising, organizing community events, or assisting those in need.
• Educational Excellence and Community Engagement:
The Community Empowerment through Education Award celebrates outstanding achievements in education, from developing innovative teaching methods to organizing educational workshops.
• Community Mental Health, Wellness, and Awareness:
The Outstanding Mental Health Champion Award is for leaders in promoting mental health support and resources, including organizing workshops or providing counselling services.
• Cultural Preservation and Religious Understanding:
The Hindu Faith and Culture Education Award Champion honours efforts to preserve Hindu culture and traditions and to promote interfaith understanding.
• Community Empowerment through Quiet and Humble Leadership:
The Silent Champion for Behind-the-Scenes Award is for individuals who have made significant contributions behind the scenes without seeking recognition.
• Cultural and Faith Pioneers and Promotion:
The Community Voice for Faith and Culture Award recognizes leadership in promoting cultural and faith diversity within the wider Bradford community.
• Cultural Heritage, Folk Music, and Language Education:
The Language, Folk and Arts Empowerment Award is for those who work to preserve and promote Hindu language, folk music, and cultural heritage.
• Independent Living and Community Support:
The Independent Living and Empowerment Champion’s Award honours contributions to supporting individuals with disabilities or special needs within the community.
• Inspiring Youth Leader & Outstanding Community Organiser:
The Inspiring Youth Leader & Outstanding Community Organiser Champion’s Award is for exceptional young leaders and dedicated community organizers.
• Special Recognitions:
The Special Recognition Champion’s Award is for individuals or organizations who have made a significant, lasting impact on the community or have overcome adversity.
