On this solemn 30th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide, the Bradford Hindu Council was honoured to attend the “Bradford National Remembering Srebrenica Memorial Civic Event 2025” at the magnificent new Bradford Live venue on 11th July 2025.

Our Trustee, Mr. Deepak Sharma, proudly represented the BHC alongside esteemed dignitaries including Lord Lieutenant Ed Anderson, Bradford Lord Mayor Mohammed Shafiq, Leeds Lord Mayor Dan Cohen, Bishop Toby, MP Imran Hussain, Councillor Susan Hinchcliffe, Dr. Sofia Buncy DL and Kaneez Khan MBE

Today, as we remembered the over 8,000 lives brutally lost in Srebrenica, the message of “Remember Yesterday, Act Today” resonated deeply. This year’s event underscored the vital interfaith aspect of remembrance, bringing together leaders and communities from across Bradford’s diverse religious landscape. It’s a powerful reminder that we must never forget the horrors of the past, but also actively work to combat hatred and division in our communities, fostering understanding and mutual respect.

As Bradford proudly celebrates its status as UK City of Culture 2025 and a long-standing City of Sanctuary, events like this highlight the city’s unwavering commitment to inclusivity and compassion. The BHC stands in solidarity with all those affected by this tragic event and pledges its continued dedication to building a brighter, more harmonious future for everyone, reflecting Bradford’s spirit of welcome and unity.
