Bradford Hindu Council Welcomes Over 275 Guests to the Inaugural Yorkshire Gita Festival

A memorable evening of music, reflection, and community spirit at the Cedar Court Hotel on Raksha Bandhan.

On the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan, the Bradford Hindu Council (BHC) had the special privilege of hosting Bradford’s very first Gita Festival. Over 275 members of our community gathered at the Cedar Court Hotel for an evening filled with heartfelt devotion, vibrant cultural performances, and uplifting practical wisdom.

A Warm Start to the Evening.

The festival began with soulful bhajans and kirtan that instantly set a welcoming, peaceful tone for the room. Guests were then treated to a lovely Ganesh Vandana dance performance, bringing wonderful energy and colour to the start of the evening.

Practical Wisdom for Everyday Life.

The highlight of the event was an inspiring talk by revered guest Pujya Gurudev HH Swami Gyananand Ji Maharaj. Swamiji reminded us that the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita isn’t just an ancient text, it’s a simple, helpful guide for navigating the ups and downs of modern life.

Maharaj ji shared a wonderful practical idea with everyone present: dedicating just 18 minutes a day to reflection and connection, representing one minute for each of the Gita’s 18 chapters. Swamiji explained how taking this short moment each day can help us build greater patience, kindness, and peace of mind in our homes and workplaces.
