The Bradford Hindu Council is delighted to announce that nominations are now open for the 2026 Diwali Awards, an annual celebration recognising the outstanding achievements, dedication and selfless service of individuals and organisations within the Bradford Hindu community.
The prestigious awards ceremony will take place in** October 2026**, bringing together community leaders, volunteers, families and supporters to honour those whose commitment has made a lasting difference to the lives of others.
The Diwali Awards celebrate the unsung heroes and community champions whose tireless efforts have strengthened and enriched our community. From volunteering and charity work to education, sport, youth development, cultural preservation and community leadership, the awards recognise those who go above and beyond without seeking recognition.

Who Can Be Nominated?
Nominees should either be based in Bradford or have a strong connection with the Bradford Hindu community. The awards recognise voluntary contributions, and nominees should not have received a salary or financial reward for the work for which they are being nominated.
All nominations should be accompanied by supporting evidence wherever possible, including testimonials, references, photographs or examples demonstrating the nominee’s contribution and impact.
Award Categories
☐ Empowering Children through Sports Award
Demonstrated commitment to promoting sport among children and encouraging participation within the Hindu community.
☐ Community Unity through Charity – Bradford’s Hope and Healing Champions Award
Recognising outstanding contributions to charitable initiatives that promote unity, compassion and support within the Hindu community.
☐ Community Mental Health, Wellness and Awareness – Outstanding Mental Health Champion Award
Honouring leadership in raising awareness of mental health, improving wellbeing, and providing support and resources within the Hindu community.
☐ Cultural and Faith Pioneers and Promotion – Community Voice for Faith and Culture Award
Recognising individuals or organisations that have demonstrated leadership in promoting Hindu faith, culture, diversity and community engagement across Bradford.
☐ Cultural Heritage, Folk Music and Language Education – Language, Folk and Arts Empowerment Award
Celebrating efforts to preserve and promote Hindu languages, folk music, arts and cultural heritage for future generations.
☐ Inspiring Youth Leader & Outstanding Community Organiser – Champion’s Award
Recognising exceptional leadership, dedication and commitment to inspiring young people and organising activities that benefit the Hindu community.
☐ Special Recognition – Champion’s Award
Awarded to an individual or organisation that has made an exceptional contribution, overcome significant adversity, or created a lasting positive impact within the Bradford Hindu community.
