Trustees of the Bradford Hindu Council, Mahesh Mistry and Hema Shanmugam, alongside members of Tamils of North East (ToNE), actively participated in the community tree plantation initiative held at Bingley Bog, near the Five Rise Locks, on Sunday 15th February.

This important environmental project was sponsored and undertaken by the Dawoodi Bohras of Bradford, with valued support from Aire Rivers Trust and Bradford Council. The final phase of planting brought together community members, interfaith representatives and local volunteers. We were also pleased to be joined by Councillors Susan Hinchcliffe and Susan Fricker.
Despite adverse weather conditions, participation was enthusiastic and inclusive, with children, women, and men all contributing wholeheartedly to the planting effort. The event clearly demonstrated the strength of collaborative, community-led environmental action.

The Bradford Hindu Council strongly supports initiatives that promote environmental sustainability. Encouraging the younger generation to actively engage in environmental stewardship which is essential in building a responsible and sustainable future for our society.

The project revives a derelict piece of land, now protected, for nature and wildlife whilst providing a bird watching shelter and flooding risk measures for the area.
